Ames is home to Iowa State University and this festival is a nod to the university’s academic strengths and connects filmmakers, scholars, and the public to celebrate the art of documentary and the impact of higher education.

We are thrilled to partner with the Octagon Art Festival and bring the art of storytelling to the heart of Downtown Ames.
The Octagon Art Festival, in its 55 year has become a favorite event for locals while also bringing in people from all around the nation. Bringing in about 8,000 people for the fourth Sunday in September, we are looking forward to hosting the first film festival next to the Octagon Art Festival.
